“Where once businesses connect mainly to foreign technologies, now, with this connecting event, we can see the value of Vietnamese technologies, and choose to implement them in our manufacturing process,” said Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hong Hanh (Director of Tonasia Foods and Beverage Ltd. – Dong Thap) at the event Connecting Ideas: “Technology and Equipment for Dried Mangoes Production” hosted by HCMC Center for Statistic Science & Technology Information on June 11th, 2021. The event was organized online using Microsoft Teams.
Before the
event, Mrs. Hanh stated Tonasia’s detailed requirements as the transferring of technology
and comprehensive production line for dried mango, from ripening, washing,
pealing, cutting, seasoning to drying. The required capacity is 3 tons of
finished product per day. On the other hand, the company also needs
consultation on feed water and waste water treatment system for their factory.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hong
Hanh stating Tonasia’s requirements to suppliers
At the
event, suppliers presented their solutions, such as technology for preserving
dried mangoes and making use of by-products (Sub-Institute of Agricultural
Engineering and Post-Harvest Technology), dried mango production line with 3
tons (finished product)/day capacity (Nam Phu Thai Refrigeration Industry JSC),
dried mango production line (Ky Nghe Xanh Vietnam JSC), ripening technology and
mango washing systems (Sao Nam International JSC), heat pump dryer for the
drying process (Hai Tan Dryer JSC), feed water and waste water treatment solution
for agricultural manufacturers (Viet Thai Sinh Environment Ltd.).
Suppliers presenting
their sollutions
Subsequently,
Tonasia’s representative discussed with suppliers about their technological
needs, as well as putting forward the related technical questions. In
particular, after the event, Tonasia has requested to meet and work directly
with each supplier to learn in more details about the processing line and
technology transfers (Ky Thuat Xanh Vietnam), heat pump dryer (Hai Tan), mango ripening
technology (Sao Nam), dried mango preserving, ripening and drying technology (Sub-Institute
of Agricultural Engineering and Post-Harvest Technology), feed water and waste
water treatment solution for dried mangoes processing factory (Viet Thai Sinh).
Mrs. Bui
Thanh Bang (Director of CESTI) stated that mango was a familiar fruit in Vietnam,
with an growing area of 87.000 ha (ranked 13th globally). The Mekong Delta accounts
for more than half this area, with the capacity of more than 550 thousand tons
/ year. There are many mango products enjoyed worldwide such as mango jelly, mango
syrup, mango juice, dried mango, etc. However in Vietnam, processed mango products are still few in number, and most mangoes
are to be eaten fresh. After harvesting, farmers still have to face risks of
poor crops, low prices, or effects of the epidemic, etc.
Due to this
situation and the actual need of business, CESTI organized the event Connecting
Ideas: “Technology and Equipment for Dried Mangoes Production” to connect
Tonasia with five suppliers related to dried mangoes production and one
supplier of waste water treatment solution to help their dried mango factory go
into operation.
Connecting Ideas is a
model to help businesses make contact with a number of suppliers and experts at once
in order to find the best solution for their needs. Thanks to the event, many
suppliers and experts would also have the chance to cooperate to solve bigger
technological challenges and meet demands from businesses. After the event,
CESTI will keep accompanying and supporting all sides toward deeper discussions
and successful technology transfers.
Discussions between
Tonasia and suppliers
Mrs. Nguyen
Thi Hong Hanh also shared that with the realization of dried mango potentials,
Tonasia is focusing on developing this product. Coming to the event, Tonasia
aimed to find their comprehensive solution to the field of dried mango
products, from input (feed water treatment), technology and
equipment specialized for this product, to waste and waste water treatment at
the end of the production process.
Through
this Connecting Ideas event, CESTI has successfully connect business seeking
technology with domestic manufacturer. This is a comprehensive model from input
to output, solving the problem of businesses wasting time looking for (mainly
foreign) technology. After listening to the solutions presented at the event,
Tonasia has decided to invest in domestic technology, which also helps
supporting new Vietnamese businesses. CESTI is alsway ready to receive requests for foreign technology transfer and organize connecting events to help foreign businesses find suitable Vietnamese partners.
After the event, Tonasia wishes for CESTI
to keep accompanying them to subsequent meetings and discussions with
Vietnamese suppliers.
